These bars are amazing. Think chocolate chip cookie, but with a layer of dulce de leche in the middle.. And in form of a bar.
I love baking bars, because I can make them really big and still claim that I only ate three, so it’s not a big deal.
These particular ones have milk and dark chocolate, and browned butter. You can also go crazy and spread even more dulce de leche on top. You know you want to.
I mean, I think I will let the photos do the talking.
Dulce de Leche Cookie Bars
source: adapted from The Seaside Baker
Ingredients:
- 7 tablespoons butter, browned
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cup flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chocolate chips (preferably half milk, half dark)
- dulce de leche, about a cup
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- To brown the butter, first melt it in a small pot over a medium heat. Butter will crackle and pop as the water melts out of it. Once that passes, the butter will settle down and begin to quickly brown and smell nutty. Once it does, remove it from heat and let cool for a couple of minutes.
- Transfer the butter into a big bowl and whisk in the sugar.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and mix.
- Add in all the dry ingredients and whisk until incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Transfer half the batter into greased (or lined with parchment paper) 9×9 baking dish. Spoon dulce de leche on top of the dough, and cover it with remaining dough.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the top starts to get browned.

Składniki:
- 100 gram masła, brązowego (instrukcja niżej)
- ½ szklanki brązowego cukru
- 1 jajko
- 1 łyżeczka ekstraktu z wanilii
- 1 ½ szklanki mąki
- ¼ łyżeczki sody oczyszczonej
- ½ łyżeczki soli
- 100 gram pokrojonej czekolady (najlepiej pół na pół mlecznej i gorzkiej)
- kajmak, 150-200gram
Przygotowanie:
- Rozgrzej piekarnik do 170°C.
- Masło rozpuść w garnuszku nad średnim ogniem. Masło zacznie trzaskać i strzelać, gdy będzie się z niego wytapiać woda. Gdy to minie, masło się uspokoi i zacznie szybko brązowieć i pachnieć orzechowo. Gdy całkiem zbrązowieje zdejmij je z ognia i pozwól mu stygnąć przez kilka minut.
- Umieść masło w dużej misce i wymieszaj z cukrem.
- Dodaj jajko, ekstrakt z wanilii, i wymieszaj.
- Dodaj wszystkie suche składniki i mieszaj, aż składniki się połączą. Wmieszaj pokrojoną czekoladę.
- Umieść połowę ciasta w natłuszczonej (lub wyłożonej papierem do pieczenia) foremce 20x20cm. Posmaruj ciasto kajmakiem i przykryj go pozostałym ciastem.
- Piecz przez ok. 20-25 minut, lub aż ciasto zacznie brązowieć od góry.
Delicious! Wow!

It looks soooo good! I also always cut my cookies or brownies or whatever in big pieces so it looks like I ate “just” two or three pieces 😀
